To make art is to express your ideas in a physical form, and most art is approached very seriously, focusing on serious thoughts that the artist wants to get across to the viewer, expanding their viewpoint and changing people’s minds. The thing I want to express to the people viewing my art is that just because jewelry tends to be minimalistic and low profile for ease of wear in their everyday lives, there can also be big, extravagant, whimsical pieces of jewelry that make you smile and therefore, be a part of people’s lives. I want people to question their preconceived notions about what jewelry can be, because it took me many years before I started to see the possibilities that jewelry open up in my personal expression. I want people to start conversations about my work, about if it’s wearable, or worth the effort, because I believe that the average person should be interested in more than just engagement rings and plain bands. There are a few artists like Karl Fritsch and Aaron P Decker that are pushing this conversation forward but I hope to add my own voice to the conversation in hopes of reaching people that would be interested in my style.
I am an artist currently working out of Baltimore MD, and focused on casting and creating unique, sculptural pieces of jewelry.
